After three independent releases, the band Luminate is ready to present a self-titled EP consisting of bright, pop-rock worship songs. Luminate comes out with consistent vocals and just enough variety between the tracks to offer an enjoyable mixture of sounds.

Although not the strongest opener, "Spirit of Love" definitely gives an accurate demonstration of what the remainder of the album will sound like. This continues into the pleasant "Shine (Love is an Action)," which elaborates on the well-worn idea that everyone has the power to change world through loving one another. It honestly and compellingly describes the desire to spread the joy of believing with the entire world.

After the striking similarities between the first two tracks, it is pleasant to hear Luminate throw in a more unique sounding pop worship track with very catchy verses in "My God." The standout track "Miracle" begins as a slower, rather generic ballad, but greatly grows in strength to become a surprisingly honest reflection consisting of confident vocals with a very solid sound, undeniably the album's most musically commanding track. This song also provides a nice transition into the slower "Hear Our Cry" and "Fearlessly," although these tracks are clearly not as powerful as their precedents.

Overall, Luminate's EP provides an encouraging collection of catchy pop/rock sounds. The group really does bring some creative ideas to the table, and they are able to create a sound that might be able to stand out when compared to the vast amount of worship groups around today. A few standout melodies allow this band's talent to shine through, and future releases will no doubt build on to their solid debut.
