Michael W. Smith
It's A Wonderful Christmas

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 11 tracks: 39 minutes, 46 seconds
Street Date: October 16, 2007

Christian music veteran Michael W. Smith has done it all. In his career which spans over two decades, this well-accomplished artist has covered almost all musical territory including pop/rock, worship, instrumental, and Christmas projects. Now Smitty has returned for yet another round of holiday music. This new collection, It's a Wonderful Christmas, features ten original tracks and one standard tune creating an album to be remembered.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of It's a Wonderful Christmas is its combination of songs performed vocally by Smitty and complete instrumental tracks. In addition, this album features a 67-piece orchestra recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. The stunning production gives It's a Wonderful Christmas a nostalgic feel, carrying the listener back to snowy evenings and good times.

"Christmas Angels" and "The Promise," both new songs written by Smith, are beautifully produced, setting the tone for the rest of the disc. Sparrow Records recording artist and American Idol alumnus Mandisa makes a guest vocal appearance on "Christmas Day," adding a gorgeous and cinematic element to the song. "A Highland Carol" is a beautifully arranged instrumental with bagpipes creating a true masterpiece. Other similar instrumental works such as "What Child Is This" and "Audrey's Gift" contribute wonderfully to this fine project.

Even though Michael W. Smith released two Christmas projects prior to this one (Michael W. Smith Christmas in 1989 and Christmastime in 1998), it didn't prevent him from creating another. In fact, It's a Wonderful Christmas is sure to be a Christmas classic for years to come.
