The Wrecking
My Window To Heaven EP

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 5 tracks: 18 minutes, 44 seconds
Street Date: November 15, 2011

The Wrecking have been around for quite a while now and have a slew of releases spanning the last decade. Though it has been a few years since we've heard anything from the electronica pop rock quartet, we have a small sampling this month: a five track Christmas EP, titled My Window To Heaven. The EP consists of two original songs along with three classic holiday tunes being released courtesy of Chosen Records.

The first song on the short EP is an original Christmas rock song with a touch of synth thrown in called "Glorious." The song focuses on the "glorious Emmanuel" and makes for a solid track overall. A soft rendition of "In the Bleak Midwinter" comes next, offering the only thing that we can give to the Savior: our hearts. Another original comes along mid-album with "Bright and Morning Star." The typical Wrecking sound of blending rock and synths is displayed best here and coupled with wonderful lyrics, such as "Tonight, Light of the world You're my window to heaven. You shine, bright as the sun - You're my bridge to forever, bright and morning star. This time, I need You more than just in December." The outcome is one great song.

Closing out the EP are versions of two classic holiday songs, "O Holy Night" and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," which make for a nice, soft closing. This release is a good pick for the Christmas season and, even though there's only five total songs, it gives the listener a little more edge (even if only the slightest) to add to your typical festive music of the season.

And no need to fret; the band's website states that there will be a full-length album releasing in a few months. So be on the lookout!
