Plumb's self-titled debut is one of the more unique records to emerge from the Christian rock scene this year. Fronted by Tiffany Arbuckle (formerly of the band Benjamin), Plumb's sound has been compared to the secular rock band, Garbage. While the comparison may fit to a degree, Plumb's lyrical content is deeper and more relevant with a sound often experimental.
Plumb possesses a dark vibe, as it covers topics that teens deal with daily. "Sobering" gets the record off to a strong start with its industrial flavored alt rock sound, lyrically serving as a summary of all peer pressures compiled into one. "Unforgivable" follows, portraying a young girl's struggle with her father's verbal abuse and her attempt to convince him that no wrongdoing is unforgivable. Other topics covered on Plumb include adultery ("Send Angels"), faith, self-inflicted pain, and our curiosity with God's creation on other planets ("Pluto"). It's also important to note that the album is produced by Jars of Clay's own vocalist Dan Haseltine, who also makes an appearance providing background vocals on "Concrete."
Plumb is a spectacular debut introducing a band that you'll want to keep an eye on for years to come.
