Impending Doom released a new EP called TOWARDS THE LIGHT on February 7, 2025. This is their first release since 2023. The title of the album expresses the theme and purpose of this release. It continues to solidify Impending Doom's reign as the premier deathcore band in the scene.

The first song, "Christ is King," is the perfect start. The first part is based on Psalm 23, and then it goes to the chorus of the song title. The song is short but feels complete. It's the heaviness longtime fans expect from Impending Doom. In the song "Punishment," my favorite lyric is "I will never feel this punishment." I deserve punishment for my sin, yet Jesus' death on the cross has taken this away from all believers. "Snakes and Saints" is one of my favorite songs; the opening riff is infectious. I love the instruments, especially the breakdowns. "My flawed existence will fail you. Show us mercy. No regrets," are powerful lyrics. The bass breakdown in this song is a unique feature that continues to set apart Impending Doom's music.

My only criticism of this EP is it's only eleven minutes long. I wish this could have been a full-length record.

For those looking for heavy music with a purpose that will challenge and bring you closer to God, this EP is for you. Impending Doom's TOWARDS THE LIGHT is a masterpiece. Each time I listen to it, something new stands out to me. Go check it out if you haven't already. Your life won't be the same.
