Some may critique Oh, Sleeper, saying they sound too much like Norma Jean. While this statement is true, Oh, Sleeper has a freshness about them, an energy and a passion.
The Armored March EP starts out with an in-your-face intro in "To Flagship," and continues on with rough, technical metal all throughout the album. When we get to "The Siren's Song," however, things slow down a bit. Your heart will be moved as guitarist Shane Blay sings about a temptation, with vocalist Micah Kinard screaming, "Fight from your knees, and the giants will fall."
The album goes out just like it started - with a bang. "We Are the Archers" is an anthem and a declaration of sorts, talking about picking up your sword and learning to fight, despite how people watch you and want you to fall. With lyrics and images of war, Oh, Sleeper is all about fighting the good fight. Like I said before, your heart will be stirred and you will want to stand for what you believe in.
While Oh, Sleeper will probably be more noticed for their Solid State debut, The Armored March EP isn't by any means a letdown. Get your hands on it before it goes out of print (Heaven forbid!).
