Audio Adrenaline is a band who's been around for quite some time and has enjoyed a successful career. With four full-length albums (including the new one), a single, a full-length video, a new book, a live album, major tours with such greats as dc Talk, Newsboys, and Steven Curtis Chapman, their own sponsored race car, and a recent Grammy nomination among other achievements, Audio A is just getting started.
With the release of their latest project, Some Kind of Zombie, AA has strayed away from the southern-flavored rock they introduced us to with bloOm. Zombie introduces a new flavor of Audio A, blending industrial elements into their pop rock sound, like in "New Body," and even a little ska, like in "Blitz." The album kicks off with "Chevette," a rockin' track that is sure to be seen moving its way up the rock charts.
"Original Species" is among one of the few ballads found on the disc. It starts off with Mark Stuart's voice sounding similar to that of the Walter Eugenes, and then results into a "My World View"-esque vibe. If you were a big fan of bloOm, have no fear. You may just find "People Like Me" to your liking. It's a fun song reminiscent of "Good People." But the ultimate highlight on the album is "Blitz," where AA teams up with The O.C. Supertones to bring you a bold ska-rock song like nothing you've ever heard Audio Adrenaline do before. While the Supertones' "Superhorns" blare their instruments, Mark and the Tones' singer, Matt Morginsky take turns shouting out rhymes.
Some Kind of Zombie is a fantastic record and a must-listen for any Audio Adrenaline or modern rock fan. You won't be disappointed.
