One of the greatest lessons I have learned from walking closely with the Lord all these years is that He is willing and able to give His devoted ones supernatural favor in the sight of God and people. For years, I have been praying over myself and my family members that we would “keep increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people,” according to Luke 2:52 (NASB). And I have seen extraordinary results.

My grandson, William, is one perfect example of this principle. When he started at a new Christian high school at the age of 15, it wasn’t easy for him to make new friends. It grieved my heart to see him struggling, so I earnestly prayed that God would give him favor in the sight of all of his fellow students, as well as the entire school staff. It didn’t happen overnight, but toward the end of the school year, William went for tryouts for the new school play. He greatly desired to have one of the supporting roles, but instead, his Drama teacher insisted that he play the lead. Unfortunately, this caused a lot of trouble between Will and his classmates because they wanted a more popular student to play the lead. Things got so bad that I actually tried to talk Will into playing a supporting role instead, but my grandson wanted to honor his teacher’s wishes. The day of the play, I marveled at the spectacular performance that Will gave onstage. Afterwards, I was amazed at all of the people who came up to Will and asked him for his autograph. My husband, Joe, and I were there when the principal of the school showered Will with accolades and asked him for his autograph. Since then, my grandson has enjoyed a popularity at his school that he never dreamed possible.

This is not the first time that I have prayed for favor for my family members, and have seen God move in mighty ways. When my oldest son, Joseph, was in public high school and having trouble fitting in, I prayed for supernatural favor for him. God used him to launch the first successful Bible Club in his school’s history, and he suddenly had an abundance of godly friends. A year or two later, God answered my prayers for favor for my son, John, who longed to have good friends of his own. God gave him a gift for art, and when he won First Place in the high school Art Show, people suddenly took notice and held him in high esteem.

Scripture says: “Surely, Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12 NIV) God’s favor provides us with supernatural protection in this dark and dangerous world. So don’t fail to pray for divine favor for yourself and others. You will be amazed at what God will do as a result!

Prayer: Lord, teach me how to pray for divine favor on a regular basis. Give me revelation knowledge about how much of a difference supernatural favor can make in my life and circumstances. Thank You that as I pray for favor with confidence and expectancy, I will witness You moving mountains on my behalf!
