Psalm 112 describes the blessings of those who "love the Lord," "delight in Him," and "cherish His words." If that describes you today, then God promises that you will be "blessed beyond expectation." (v. 1 TPT) Not only will circumstances never shake you, but others will never forget your example, because your faith will make such a lasting impression upon them.
This psalm reveals some ways our example can make an impact on those around us. "They will not live in fear or dread of what may come, for their hearts are firm, ever secure in their faith." (v. 7) When trouble strikes, and others see us remaining fearless, and standing firm in our faith, they will sit up and take notice. In the days ahead, when these people experience trouble themselves, you might be the only one they feel comfortable turning to for reassurance and prayer. God can use your response to their need to make an eternal difference in their lives for His glory.
Verse 8 of this psalm says: "Steady and strong, they will not be afraid, but will calmly face their every foe until they all go down in defeat." Notice how this psalm highlights how a lack of fear characterizes those who are steady and strong in their faith. When faced with human and spiritual foes, they remain calm because they know that their God will cause them to prevail. As the Apostle Paul says in Philippians 1:28 (GNT): "Don't be afraid of your enemies; always be courageous, and this will prove to them that they will lose and that you will win, because it is God who gives you the victory." Hallelujah!
Take another look at Psalm 112:6: "Their circumstances will never shake them and others will never forget their example." Ask the Lord to help you to remain unshaken by circumstances, so that you will make a lasting impression on those around you - and point them to Christ by your example!
Prayer: Lord, please work in my heart so that I will always love You, delight in You, and cherish Your Word. Keep me firm and ever secure in my faith so that I will never live in fear or dread of what may come. Make me a Christlike example to others in ways that will draw them to You. Thank You that as I cooperate with You to walk in victory, I will be blessed beyond expectation!
