The above promise is only one of many found in the Bible concerning wisdom and guidance. If you spend any time reading the Scriptures, you discover pretty quickly that our God is eager to give us direction when we seek it. There are too many wisdom related verses to cover here, but let's look at just a few. One of the most quoted promises is in James 1:5 (NIV): "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." You never have to worry about asking God a "stupid question". If you need His direction in a matter, He has promised to give it to you if you will just humble yourself and ask Him for it. He won't think you're dumb, and He won't fault you for asking. Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) says, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." When you pray verses like these, God may show you a solution to your problem that never even occurred to you before. When He does, don't forget to thank Him and give Him the glory.
The Bible reveals that Jesus IS our wisdom. First Corinthians 1:30 (NIV) says, "You are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God." And according to First Corinthians 2:16 (NIV), "We have the mind of Christ". By knowing and claiming these truths, we can have access to the wisdom of the living God, Who knows all things. In John 10:4, Jesus tells us that He is the Good Shepherd and we are His sheep; we can hear His voice and follow Him. The Savior is a valuable source of wisdom for us in all things that concern us. Jesus also lets us know that the Holy Spirit is available to teach us all things (John 14:26), and to guide us into all truth (John 16:13). So we can ask the Spirit of God to help us solve our problems, trusting Him to provide all the wisdom and guidance we need for every situation and circumstance we encounter.
One of my favorite promises to meditate on is Isaiah 28:26 (TLB): "He knows just what to do, for God has made him see and understand." This is the Lord's personal guarantee that as we seek His will and wisdom for our lives, He will give us all the direction and insight we need to do what pleases Him. There are many more wisdom verses in the Bible, but I hope that the ones we've covered here have helped convince you that God is eager to impart His wisdom to you when you need it. If you will pray these verses and stand on them in faith, the Lord will reveal His will for You in any situation. If the answer doesn't come right away, persevere and continue to seek Him. He is faithful and He will not let you down. Be encouraged today by these precious verses in Psalm 73:23-24 (TLB): "You love me! You are holding my right hand! You will keep on guiding me all my life with your wisdom and counsel, and afterwards receive me into the glories of heaven!"
Prayer: Lord, remind me to seek You first when I need wisdom in big or little matters that concern me. Help me to always hear and follow Your voice. Don't let me be misled or deceived in any way. Give me revelation from heaven that will keep me in Your perfect will. Thank You that You are eager to guide me, and I never need to find my own way!
