#7. Oh, Sleeper
Bloodied // Unbowed
Release Date: Sometime 2017
|

While the original, projected deadline of "Summer 2016" has long came and went, the excitement for Oh Sleeper's impending album remains, compounded even by the supercharged single, "Oxygen." The energy this band brings to the stage and each release is extraordinary. Let's all just try to maintain hope that 2017 beckons the final arrival of Bloodied//Unbowed. It will surely be worth our patience.

Despite being announced early last year, Bloodied/Unbowed has only recently given us the first glimpse into its bowels with the new single "Oxygen." It's an excellent song that bares a strong resemblance to the raw production of Son of the Morning; yet, I feel the band hasn't quite shown us the album's true potential, which only makes me crave this record even more.

For me, Oh, Sleeper, has been a band that's interested me, but not one that I've loved. I see their appeal and talent, but they've never truly won me over. While 2016 was a better year for metal music than 2015, I've been becoming less and less enamoured with the genre. I'm hoping that 2017 is the year that Oh, Sleeper makes me a real fan and the year that I fall back in love with metal music all over again. No pressure, guys!

Another band that's been very quiet on social media lately. Oh, Sleeper has been plenty active on tours, but their last release was the Titan EP in 2013. They've kept us waiting, and I think it will be worth it...
