Interestingly, "Fire from the Mouth" hits the listener with a little bit of a curveball: this is borderline black metal at times. That aspect is mostly confined to the beginning of the song, but that portion is absolutely blistering with rapid fire drums and guitar riffs. On top of them are Konradt’s vocals like I've never heard before, as he really stretches himself with fierce growls that - also like black metal - don't necessarily conform to any melodies, but still sound like they belong. As the song progresses, he moves back into the metalcore / quasi-deathcore style he's been known for, but it all works really well together and flows from one subgenre into the next. The lyrics match the intensity of the music pretty well, too. It's not his strongest batch of lyricism, but the repeated lines of "You will never see Him coming" is quite catchy and works really well to move the song along.
I've said it before and thankfully I can say it again, but I continue to be impressed with the improvements I've heard in Relentless Pursuit's music. The songwriting, musicianship, and production are all leagues above where they were a few years ago. Konradt has released some solid music lately, but "Fire from the Mouth" is one of my favorites. I can easily recommend this to deathcore fans who don't mind the smaller budget production quality.
