Vernon Greeson is a gospel singer and Worship Pastor from Chattanooga, TN. Greeson is an extremely talented vocalist that has been singing most of his life and even won the Gospel Talent Search in Pigeon Forge, TN back in 2022 -- only a couple years after his high school graduation. I wouldn't classify his music as traditional southern gospel, but it definitely has some roots in the genre. I think a generalized "gospel" label is most appropriate for his style as his newest album,
Hold On, runs the gamut from southern ("Unspoken Request"), traditional gospel ("As Long As I've Got King Jesus"), and even modern praise and worship with a Phil Wickam cover ("House of the Lord"). Greeson does it all with a big and powerful vocal performance. Gospel music fans should find a lot to enjoy here as Greeson helps to bring a genre of music steeped in history into the modern age.
Hold On has the soul of an old school gospel record with a much more modern musical background. Nothing proves this more than his stunning rendition of the classic Gaither hit, "I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary" -- which highlights an incredible vocal range and performance. Gospel music fans should be paying attention to Vernon Greeson. This young powerhouse should be offering up great gospel music for years to come.
