"Maybe Tomorrow" is an impressive debut single from the new band Fight The Fall (often stylized in all-caps). The project is spearheaded by primary songwriter Andy Cutrell, who recorded all the vocals, guitars, and bass on "Maybe Tomorrow." Cutrell kicks off this project with many years of experience, including most recently as a touring member of metalcore band War of Ages.
Fight The Fall is a far cry from metalcore, though; quite to the contrary, this band finds most of its inspiration in classic rock bands like Foreigner and alternative/grunge bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Foo Fighters. Engineered and mixed to sparkling perfection by a man named Jack Daniels (yes, like the whiskey), "Maybe Tomorrow" sounds full and loud without sacrificing big dynamic shifts, such as the subtle shift to a Southern rock flavor on the bridge's half-time breakdown, followed by an awesomely unexpected guitar solo switch-up (at about three and a half minutes in). The whole song shines the spotlight on Cutrell's main assets -- his voice and his classic rock-inspired electric guitar work -- which, in combination, manage to show off his inspirations without alienating listeners (like myself) who don't share Cutrell's affection for 70s and 80s rock 'n' roll. This comes largely thanks to the charisma of Cutrell's musical theater-trained vocals, which sell his lyrics without the drawl of grunge or the pinch of hair metal. The lyrics (which contribute to the canon of rock songs about girls named "Jenny") offer hope without shying away from confrontation. They dig deep into the "maybe" mentality: all the ways that we use the possibilities and unknowns of tomorrow to deflect from being decisive and firm today.
From the performances to the production to the composition, this is a winning debut for Fight The Fall, which should appeal to Christian rock fans of all sorts - but especially fans of Stryper, Blessed By A Broken Heart, DecembeRadio, and The Showdown.

Andy Cutrell: That's a great question. Well, I started writing and recording these songs about 20 years ago, but I never liked exactly how they were sounding. It's amazing how when you walk away from something you can come back with a different set of ears and more clarity.
Andy: You're right, it's not a huge departure at all. After the release of "Someday," people that I trust suggested that putting this style out under a moniker would be more relatable to the audience that listens to this style of music. I definitely thought about releasing "Maybe Tomorrow: as a solo track but went with Fight The Fall for the potential to reach a broader audience.
Andy: I will definitely be putting "Someday" on the Fight The Fall album when it's released. I'm not sure how many more songs the label plans on releasing in the coming months before the full album, but I think there will be at least two more coming out soon.
Andy: Oh, it is, for sure, an ongoing influence in my music. I love putting people inside the story that I'm telling. Musical theater taught me the importance of that.
I would cast myself as Bert from Mary Poppins because I loved all the songs he sang, or had a part in singing, and his character was someone who was always trying to bring hope to every situation. When I grow up (lol), I want to be an ambassador of hope as well.
Andy: My musical influences are all over the place, hahaha! I listen to a lot of instrumental music. My buddy Isaiah Perez just released a new project that he's playing drums for called Evomoon. Of course I'm biased because of traveling with the dude, but the music on their new album is a great inspiration. This may seem weird, but I love what Elevation Rhythm has been doing lately. And I have to say that I'm consistently influenced by my son Evangel Cutrell. He's not afraid to be him. I love that.
My non-music-related influences really come from listening to sermons, both at the church I work at and online. I'm boring, hahaha!
Andy: For now, it will be primarily a recording project. If Fight The Fall does have the opportunity to perform, I have certain guys that would be a part of it. At the current time, I don't have any upcoming concerts.
Andy: I've been through a lot with the War Of Ages (WOA) dudes. Jack Daniels is literally one of my best friends. I would do all I can for any of them. We have so many good memories with each other. I've actually been involved with WOA since 2016. It's always an adventure going out with them. I love all those dudes. I honestly don't have just one favorite memory. The whole tour is an awesome memory.
Andy: I would just like to share my absolute gratitude for all the support. Alternative Christian music helped encourage me in my walk with Christ. I hope that my music can inspire and encourage people to do the same. You can keep up with me through the Fight The Fall Instagram and Facebook page. You can also just keep up with me, Andy Cutrell, on both Instagram and Facebook.
