This past year had been one for gaining momentum for Columbus Ohio based Hello Luna. The release of album "Into the Static" in January of 2022 found the band treading down the well worn path blazed by the likes of Evanescence, We Are the Fallen, and to a lesser extent, Icon for Hire. They now return in the middle of 2023 with the second of two new singles, "Sweet and Deranged," as they continue in their road warrior ways on tour with Jady. The track brings immediate energy and juxtaposes relational drama as well as the battle of a chaotic mind as one wrestles with themselves, "Keep me thinking I'm the one that's strange/Pull me under pretty sure I'm deranged/ I'm the one that's feeling all the pain/ Pretty sure you don't feel the same."

Musically, this single is a slight departure from previous material from the band as they have incorporated more electronic elements into the mix than before. This will invariably see them leaning more into their pop sensibilities than their more aggressive sound that most of their previous material resided in and it is a good choice as it adds some depth to the overall production. It's a solid single that shows off the strong vocal talent of Kenzie Coyne and shows a lot of promise for the future. They are currently on a tour that has stops in their home state of Ohio but will be making an appearance at Audiofeed this summer if you are interested in catching them live.
