Las Vegas-based Christian metal and hardcore band TAKE have been around since early 2003 and have been steadily plugging away within the underbelly of the hardcore scene. They just released their newest album, Time Bomb, under Resuscitation Records. Blending a seamless fusion of hardcore, groove, death metal, and melody, the band carries on the Spirit-filled traditions of contemporaries within the scene that have since become parts of history, such as Strongarm, Focused, and even earlier Zao. Characterized by ferocious vocals, intense riffs, and a seamless integration of melody and aggression, this combination creates a dynamic and powerful sound that is both captivating and thought-provoking.

From the very first track, TAKE seizes the listener's attention with an unyielding energy and lyrics that provoke deep thought. The album's production quality is exceptional, ensuring that each instrument is distinctly heard while still blending seamlessly into the overall sound. This meticulous production allows the band's unique ability to fuse aggressive riffs with melodic interludes to shine, creating a dynamic and engaging listening experience that captivates from start to finish.

One of the standout tracks, "Heaven or Hell," exemplifies TAKE's bold and often confrontational lyrical prowess and musical intensity. The song delves into the existential struggle between good and evil, urging listeners to reflect on their own choices and the impact they have on the world. The chorus, with its haunting refrain, "Will you choose Heaven or Hell?" resonates deeply, leaving a lasting impression. "The Rage" also packs an intense punch, depicting a world in decline, filled with suffering and deceit, where people place their faith in flawed human institutions instead of seeking divine guidance. The speaker expresses frustration with media manipulation and political lies, highlighting the gradual self-destruction of society. They urge listeners to reflect on their lives and recognize their need for salvation, emphasizing that only divine intervention can save them. The song serves as a powerful call to action, blending intense emotion with a profound spiritual message.

"Trapped Within" reflects a deep sense of introspection and a yearning for spiritual transformation. The speaker acknowledges their entrapment by sin and expresses a desire to confront and overcome it, beginning with a posture of humility and prayer ("down on my knees to begin"). The plea to be "fully made in your image" and for divine life to be poured into them signifies a longing for renewal and alignment with God's will. The cry for a changed heart and the earth's call for God's glory emphasize the universal need for divine intervention and the hope for redemption and restoration.

Time Bomb is not just an album; it's a call to action. Each song challenges the listener to confront the complexities of life and find hope amidst the chaos. TAKE's ability to convey such profound messages through their music is a testament to their artistry and dedication to their craft. TAKE's newest offering is a must-listen for fans of Christian metal and hardcore. These guys have delivered an album that is both musically exhilarating and lyrically inspiring. Be sure to grab your copy and prepare to be blown away by the sheer power and passion of TAKE.
