Well I, I never thought I would admit it,
But the times that were bad sound better when I see them written down.
All the times that were tough, like junior college in the Spring,
Playing show in run-down taco shops and the rec hall in my town.

Hindsight, they say, is 20/20 vision,
Meaning that the grass ain’t always greener side to side.
If God only knows what’s in store,
I’ll read about it in books and magazines.

I can’t help but sit and complain when I’m the opening band,
But looking back on today, it wasn’t all so bad.
I’ll use it well and forget my lack of common sense;
I’m taking it back now, taking it back now.

My car is out of gas and the air-conditioning doesn’t work.
Teaching Sunday School when I can’t say I have it all together.
Yesterday, driving home from a trip to Half Moon Bay,
We blessed the rains to a mixtape made by hand for you that day.

Hindsight, they say, is 20/20 vision,
Meaning that the grass ain’t always greener side to side.
If God only knows what’s in store,
I’ll read about it in books and say...
