VERSE 1
There’s a snake in this water, child
I think we’d better head for the shore now
Move or be paralyzed
Don’t give him what he came here for
Swift as lightning, always playing for keeps
He makes his way through the passage
If you know what I mean
The tide is turning, will we put it together?
He may have eyes like an eagle
But he is not of this feather

CHORUS
Oh, they’re lighting the skies
With lies of a violent kind
A violent kind
Smoke and mirrors
Are whispering fear to these itching ears
This is not divine, no
We are at war
And we are in trouble
You see, this was not our fight
Go on, pick up your sword
For we are at war
And there will be trouble
There will be trouble

VERSE 2
This scene has been synthesized
They broke it down and you know the score now
And once you’ve been terrorized
You’ll give them what they came here for
Yes, it’s frightening
But it’s not what it seems
So many powers at play
And darling, talk is cheap
All is taken
Hell-bent for leather
They come to offer you freedom
And yet they carry the tether

CHORUS
Oh, they’re lighting the skies
With lies of a violent kind
A violent kind
Smoke and mirrors
Are whispering fear to these itching ears
This is not divine, no
We are at war
And we are in trouble
You see, this was not our fight
Go on, pick up your sword
For we are at war
And there will be trouble
There will be trouble

We are at war
And we are in trouble
You see, this was not our fight
Go on, pick up your sword
For we are at war
And there will be trouble
There will be trouble
