What kind of love is this
What kind of love is this
That God would form us from the clay
Knowing we like sheep would go astray
That we would spurn His holy name
That we would lay Him whence we came

What kind of love is this
What kind of love is this
That God for us would part the sea
And save us from our enemy
That He, the God of desert sand
Would be the God of the Promised Land

What kind of love is this
What kind of love is this
That God would take our flesh and sin
Be made like us, so we could be like Him
That He, our Priest, would draw the knife
And offer Himself as our sacrifice

What kind of love is this
What kind of love is this
That God would go prepare a place
That pain and sin He would erase
Oh death, where is your age-old sting?
Oh grave, where is your victory?

And oh, what kind of love is this?
And oh, what kind of love is this?
That He would wear His scars for eternity
Just to be with you, to be with me

What kind of love is this
What kind of love is this
That God would do all that He can
And yearn for us to understand
What kind of love is this
What kind of love this is
