I just can't take it anymore
Your tricks have fooled me for the last time
You know I've had it up to here
With the way you bring me down, down
You're wreaking havoc on my world
You're calling question to my sanity
But I'm not gonna let you get the best of me
Not anymore, anymore
So here I go, watch me run
A million miles under the sun
That's what I'll do if that's what it takes
To get away
CHORUS
I gotta get away
I gotta get away
I gotta get away
I gotta get away
You try to steal away our kids
You try to tear apart our families
You bring your lies into our towns
And watch our morals tumble down
We are a city on the edge
We are a world that needs a remedy
But we're still the nation under God
And it's time we take a stand
We gotta get away
We gotta get away
We gotta get away
We gotta get away
Give us your strength to run from evil
Lord, lead the way
Lead us into a better day
Give us hope
Give us faith
Help us, oh Lord, to get away
Hear our cry everyday
Help us, oh Lord, to get away
Here I go
Watch me run
A million miles under the sun
That's what I'll do
If that's what it takes to get away

Behind the Song:Genesis 2:16-17, 1 Thessalonians 5:22
"The Bible is crystal clear when it comes to giving us
instructions for how we should handle evil in our world. 1
Thessalonians 5:22 says it all: “Keep away from every
kind of evil.” This song was inspired by a conversation
with two friends who have both been facing problems in
their marriages. They went on to share with me how they
have been left to pick up the pieces of broken
relationships and shattered worlds.
As I was listening, I found myself getting angry. I was
angry at evil, because it was becoming obvious that evil
doesn’t just want to trip us up, it wants to destroy everything in its path, like a hurricane! When Hurricane
Charlie was making its way towards Florida, only a fool
would have stayed and tried to survive the storm. That’s
the way we need to look at evil. Guarding our hearts and
minds from temptation, we have to stand and say, “You
will not destroy my life!” The rest of our instructions are
simple, “GET AWAY!”" - Matthew West
