“I Need Someone”— (Mikey) “This was not written before we went into the studio. Pre-production was almost finished, and I was up real late, just exhausted. I was missing my wife. I was tired and praying and I just wrote that chorus. It was really just a prayer saying ‘God, I really need you to carry me right now because this is way more than I bargained for recording this record and being away from home.’ I played it for Scotty and he’s like, ‘Dude, that’s got to be on the record!’ Then Cliff and the guys got involved and before long it was the whole song.”
