I waited for you
I’m a photograph on your floor
That you found in your bedroom
Now you wish you could ignore
All my desperate words fall
I am the sound of a dead language I know
I waited for you
I’m everything you were before
I’m shooting arrows and I wear your pin
But there’s nothing left here to believe in
So run for your life now
Maybe you won’t you wanna stay here
And live underground
We gotta get out
While the going is good
We gotta turn out the lights
We gotta run for the words
You and I
We live awake at night
I’ve waited for this
I’m the letter you never sent
I’m just a shot at forgiveness
All the words now taken back
In every way I need you
Pull me through every memory you thread
I’ve waited for this
It’s ever wound I won’t forget
You made your move and now it’s mine again
Can I give you something to believe in?
So run for your life now
Maybe you won’t you wanna stay here
And live underground
We gotta get out
While the going is good
We gotta turn out the lights
We gotta run for the words
You and I
We live awake at night
Run away run away but don’t go
Till you’ve heard every word I’ve said
Run away run away but just know
I will be two steps ahead
You and I
Behind the Song:(JT) Chad started this track but didn’t think it could be finished and brought into our world. It still is the most pop thing we’ve ever done, but I knew we could connect the dots. (This was also the first track we had started with Robert Marvin. We brought him in knowing it would be the first time Paper Route, as a band, would all be on the -listening couch- .. at the same time). It freed either Chad or me up from being behind the computer. We turned everything up and i had a mic in the tracking room.
