04. Do Something

Into the Light
by Matthew West

I woke up this morning / Saw a world full of trouble now / Thought, howíd we ever get so far down / Howís it ever gonna turn around / So I turned my eyes to Heaven / I thought, ďGod, why donít You do something?Ē / Well, I just couldnít bear the thought of / People living in poverty / Children sold into slavery / The thought disgusted me / So, I shook my fist at Heaven / Said, ďGod, why donít You do something?Ē / He said, ďI did, I created youĒ / If not us, then who / If not me and you / Right now, itís time for us to do something / If not now, then when / Will we see an end / To all this pain / Itís not enough to do nothing / Itís time for us to do something / Iím so tired of talking / About how we are Godís hands and feet / But itís easier to say than to be / Live like angels of apathy who tell ourselves / Itís alright, ďsomebody else will do somethingĒ / Well, I donít know about you / But Iím sick and tired of life with no desire / I donít want a flame, I want a fire / I
wanna be the one who stands up and says, / ďIím gonna do somethingĒ / We are the salt of the earth / We are a city on a hill / But weíre never gonna change the world / By standing still / No we wonít stand still / No we wonít stand still / No we wonít stand still

Behind the Song:
ANDREA WAS A 20 YEAR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT FROM DENVER WHO WENT TO UGANDA TO STUDY FOR A SEMESTER. WHILE THERE, GOD BROKE HER HEART FOR THE PLIGHT OF SOME CHILDREN BEING BADLY ABUSED AND NEGLECTED IN AN ORPHANAGE. SHE REFUSED TO COME HOME UNTIL SOMETHING WAS DONE FOR THESE KIDS. SOMEHOW, SHE CONVINCED GOVERNMENT TO SHUT DOWN THE ORPHANAGE AND HAND OVER THE CHILDREN TO HER. TODAY, MUSANA IS AN ORPHANAGE HOUSING CLOSE TO 200 CHILDREN! ANDREA DIDNíT KNOW WHAT TO DO, BUT SHE KNEW SHE HAD TO DO SOMETHING. GOD HONORED HER WILLINGNESS AND LIVES ARE BEING SAVED AS A RESULT. A POWERFUL STORY THE WORLD NEEDS TO HEAR! - Matthew West
