Never Take Friendship Personal: Live In New York City
by Anberlin

Sheís got the time
Says sheís got time on her side
Running the rule
Commanding the late boys eyes
She runs around, knows all the streets by name
So mysterious, shadows meet James Dean
Sheís intoxicating, soon your favorite drink

Your black dress in disarray
Only dance floor prayers can save {you}
Temperatures rise and I start to move
But itís you thatís coursing through my veins

Say sheís got hope
Took shelter to the Hollywood list, taking control
Wanted my heart but I gave her my soul
Sheís like a (Bettie) Paige, (Betty) Davis, with a Marilyn Monroe kiss
Disappeared today, left no trace
But someday Iíll know your name

Your black dress in disarray
Only dance floor prayers can save {you}
But itís you thatís coursing through my veins

Donít need no drugs, youíre my chemical
Now Iím dependent, swear Iím clinical
Addicted to those glances, taking chances tonight
I need a fix in those heroin eyes
Donít need no drugs, youíre my chemical
Now Iím dependent, no not cynical
Addicted to those glances, taking chances tonight
I need a fix in those heroin eyes

Sheís no saint (sheís no saint), sheís no saint
Sheís no saint but sheíll take you to your knees
Try her boy, but sheíll still do what she please
Do you believe in science? Sheís perfect chemistry
She wanted my love but I gave her the rest of me

Donít need no drugs, youíre my chemical
Now Iím dependent, swear Iím clinical
Addicted to those glances, taking chances tonight
I need a fix in those heroin eyes
Donít need no drugs, youíre my chemical
Now Iím dependent, no not cynical
Addicted to those glances, taking chances tonight
I need a fix in those heroin eyes

Youíll adore me before the night is over [x2]
If Londonís calling donít you dare pick up the phone
Only you entwined
Could make this orphan feel at home
Lips that need no introduction, but now waiting for your call
If pictureís worth a thousand words
Then your touch is worth them all

Donít need no drugs, youíre my chemical
Now Iím dependent, swear Iím clinical
Addicted to those glances, taking chances tonight
I need a fix in those heroin eyes
Donít need no drugs, youíre my chemical
Now Iím dependent, no not cynical
Addicted to those glances, taking chances tonight
I need a fix in those heroin eyes

Behind the Song:
'i dated someone from Oklahoma whose older sister was perhaps one of the most perplexing and yet intriguing women I have ever met. She had no job, she lived off rich men with her looks, it was fascinating. she spent most of her time in vegas hopping from one adventure to the next.

the title came from my obsession with Nico, not that i love the velvet underground but that i was fascinated by her lifeís story.

Stephen Patrick (whose name appears in the NTFP booklet) is in homage to Morrissey, who i still admire as a vocalist, and whose band The Smiths we tried to make this song sound like.

Please note the names above, the song was not supposed to sound like it was somehow paying homage to the home improvement guru Paige Davis.' - Stephen Christian
