Land cover
11. The Greatest Story Ever Told
Album: Land
Artist: Tree63

By heart, I learned the words
Beginning to the end
Chapter and verse
The poetry and prose, the shepherd songs
A compass showing me where I belong

And I took everything to heart
And held it up against the dark
A lamp unto my feet
A new language to speak
A litany of promises

A mystery how the words on a page
Somehow took root in my heart and my brain
All the years and the miles
I still remember it

The greatest story ever told
The greatest story ever told

At night, I lie awake
Wondering how long it’s going to take
For you to keep the promises you made
And if I always will be much afraid

And somehow words just appear
Reminding me not to fear
For He has already
overcome the world

Unwritten
Or unspoken
Promises cannot be broken
And you are
The promised land
The story’s ending

The past and the future to come
You hold here and now and you make them one
The story lives
The story breathes
And it will never end
