The sky is grey and the light is far
The sea is a rage within my heart
I turn my sight to the crashing waves
I cry in the night just to be saved
I need eyes to be my guide
I need a voice that’s louder than mine
I need hope I need You
Cause I can’t do this alone
Grace I call Your name
Oh won’t Your smile fall over me
I’m cracked and dry on hands and knees
Oh sweet grace rain down on me I need You grace
I pray for dawn a new day to live
I pray for mercy only Jesus gives
Though darkness falls and a million cry
I believe over all there’s a greater light shining for us
Come down and save me

Behind the Song:'This song came out thinking about my relationship with the disciple Peter. Having read through the Gospel of Luke, Peter really stuck out to me. In all the Bible studies I’ve heard on Peter, he’s the guy we look down on—basically, here’s what NOT to do when you’re around Jesus. He’s the guy who seems to put his foot in his mouth. But I, along with so many other people I’ve talked to about this, feel such a relationship with Peter. Like Peter, I mess up and say stuff at the wrong time and fall short of who I’m supposed to be. Peter is one of the prominent disciples of Jesus, and yet he has a problem with his mouth, he has so much growing to do, even if he is a manly fisherman. And we’re the children of God, we get to inherit His Kingdom, and still we do the things an enemy would do toward God. So this is my call, along with Peter and all of humanity, that we need grace.' - Phil Wickham
