Your hands are crowded
Filled with the things that you do
The things that take over you
Your thoughts are scattered
Watered down pieces of you
Look what you're going through
Chorus:
How do you sleep with the light on
How do you love with your soul gone
Do you smile when your world is in your hands
Can't you see that when everything matters
Then nothing's what it seems
Your fears are slowly
Taking your mind away
Oh what a price you pay
This life is surely
Subject to change anyway
For reasons we cannot change
Everything you are falls between the lines
Of mediocrity, won't you ever see
All you really need is to love the great divine
And love one another, that's all that matters

Behind the Song:“’Everything Matters’ was actually the title of the EP that we released when we moved to Nashville. When we allowed Dave Clark to critique some of the songs at GMA Academy, he glanced at the EP title and mentioned he would love to hear a song called “Everything Matters.” He encouraged us that there was a song hidden in the thoughts of that title. As we started recording the album, I sat down to write the song and decided to take a different angle than previously intended: Sometimes everything doesn’t matter. God has called us to love him and to love others, period. Everything else falls into place when we live by these two commandments.” - Jacob McGinnis (
