The disease of my soul was spreading,
Eating me up on the inside,
Keeping my heart from your new life.
And i see now where I was headed
For there is no cure that can save us,
Outside of Your mercy Lord Jesus.
Yes, You stepped in with Your power to save,
Let forgiveness reign,
Worked a miracle within.
Thank you for healing me;
I was dying beneath my shame
But You brought me to life again, and I will sing:
Thank you for freeing me
I was dead to the truth of You,
But my healing was in Your wounds, and now I sing:
Thank you for healing me.
Though outwardly I may waste away,
On the inside I´ll be more alive every day.
As I walk through times of pain and grief
There´s a deeper truth inside of me...
You have placed Your life inside of me.
I´m alive, I´m alive.
I´m alive, I´m alive in You.
Thankyou for healing me.

Behind the Song:Bible reference: Matthew 3:15, Mark 2:17, Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:2
'There are so many ways to talk about our salvation. Quite often we use the picture of being freed, and the use of legal language etc. But in this song I decided to use the picture of being healed, and the use of some medical language, for example talking of the mercy of Jesus being a ´cure that can save us´.
While writing this song I met a young worship leader in the USA named Ed Horn. I actually met him in a hospital where he was being treated for cancer, and that meeting really spoke to me. From his beaming smile and full on heart of praise, you wouldn´t have known he was dying, hence the lyric saying though outwardly I may waste away, on the inside I´ll be more alive every day. Ed is no longer with us. He is safe in the arms of Jesus now - that big beaming smile more radiant than ever no doubt.' - Matt Redman
