The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie opens in theaters
nationwide on Friday, January 11. This marks the second CG-animated movie from the popular VeggieTales franchise that has sold
more than 50 million DVDs worldwide. In 2002 Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie hit theaters and
brought in more than $25 million at the box office.
Directed by Mike Nawrocki and written by Phil Vischer, co-creators of VeggieTales, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, portrays the comic misadventures of three animated veggie pals who reluctantly set sail for adventure and discover that real heroes don't have to be tall, strong, handsome... or even human. The movie continues the franchise's faith-and-values-based lessons approach by illustrating to kids what it really means to be a hero.
In connection with the movie, Decca Records and Universal Music have released The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie - Original Movie Soundtrack. Released in December and distributed to the CBA market through EMI CMG Distribution, the soundtrack features all of the music from the movie, along with a bonus track and bonus video content. Artists featured on the soundtrack include Anointed, Mandisa, newsboys, Relient K, Steve Taylor and TobyMac. Taylor and TobyMac also contributed to the album as songwriters, as did Matthew West, who wrote "The Right Thing," which is performed by Mandisa.
