(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) July 7, 2008 – Texas rock band One Minute Halo recently signed with Dallas-based indie label Empiric Records and plans to release its debut album Against the Grain in early 2009. The project will have national distribution via Empiric and Universal/Fontana.
Vocalist Jeromy Moorehead, guitarists Joey Catalano and Terry Johnson, bassist Chris Downs and drummer Brian Butts are One Minute Halo. Playing shows with heavyweights like Taproot, Sevendust, Kittie and Filter, the band thrives on touring, amassing hundreds of performances to sharpen itself sonically. Its music is heavy, melodic and dynamic, bringing a universal lyrical appeal that relates to a variety of listeners.
“We are thrilled about the awakening of this musical giant, One Minute Halo,” says Charles A. Cheshire, Jr., president of Empiric Records. “We have witnessed firsthand the dedication of these young men, both spirituality as well as professionally, and know their passion for creating great music will bless others as it has us.”
To give fans a taste of the upcoming album, One Minute Halo released a four-song EP entitled Places on July 1. All four songs will also appear on the full-length album that was produced by Pillar’s Noah Henson and Travis Wyrick (P.O.D., Pillar, 10 Years, Disciple). As a special promotion, fans that purchase the EP will receive the full-length Against the Grain for five dollars.
Additionally, the band’s debut single “Under the Blue Skies” goes for adds at Christian Rock radio on July 7. The song explores the struggle of saying goodbye to loved ones that leave for war, while asking God’s grace in dealing with loneliness, starvation, injury and death. Musically the band fires all barrels, mixing melodic heft with subtle dynamics, all while a heavy chorus and a scream-core breakdown serve as solid bedrock. The power of “Under the Blue Skies” already has the ears of radio tuned to One Minute Halo:
