Josh Havens of rock band The Afters addressed fans this morning with a personal request. The band's friend and manager
David Lipscomb has been battling pancreatic cancer for over a year and is in desperate need of prayer and financial support.
Below is Josh's letter. Please consider supporting the Lipscombs at the very least in prayer...
" Our friend and Manager...Hi Friends.
Many of you may have known that our manager, David Lipscomb has been battling pancreatic cancer since January of 2008. He went into remission and was even was told that he appeared to be cancer free around last thanksgiving. This past January, the cancer returned and spread to his liver. It has been ruthless and the doctors have exhausted all treatment options. He began hospice care this past week and has been given weeks to months.David have been much more that just a manger to us. He is a friend and a mentor. I have never known a man of greater integrity. He is an example to all and he truly lives what he believes. He is one of the few people in my life that I consider irreplaceable... meaning that his impact on me was life changing.
We have 2 things we'd like to ask of you...
First and foremost, please pray for David and his family. Pray that God would heal David and remove the cancer from his body. However, if God chooses a different road for David to walk, we ask that you'd pray for peace and courage for the Lipscomb's. David wants most of all for Jesus' fame to be spread through his story.Secondly, Davids family has incurred a massive amount of debt while fighting his cancer. They have insurance, but the co-payments and medication costs have run into the tens of thousands. We have a website set up called www.carefordavid.com
If you have the means to help them in any way, it will help bring peace to an area that I know is of real concern to David. My prayer is that we can eliminate the medical debt they are carrying so that it would not plague their family.
We thank you all so much for your prayers and support. We are thankful for all of you and are blessed to have you in our lives.
Josh
