(March 29, 2010) – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment releases two biblical films based on stories from the best-selling book of all time: The Bible Stories: Jeremiah and The Bible Stories: Solomon, each available on DVD May 18. The Bible Stories: Jeremiah is an inspirational tale of prophecy and faith starring two-time Golden Globe® nominee Patrick Dempsey (TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” Made of Honor) as Jeremiah, Oscar® nominee Klaus Maria Brandauer (Best Supporting Actor, Out of Africa, 1985) as King Nebuchadnezzar, and Oliver Reed (Gladiator, Tommy) as General Safan. The Bible Stories: Solomon is the inspiring story of courage and love featuring an all-star cast, including Ben Cross (Chariots of Fire, Star Trek) as Solomon, Vivica A. Fox (TV’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Kill Bill: Vol. 1) as the Queen of Sheba, and Oscar nominee Anouk Aimée (Best Actress, Un Homme Et Une Femme, 1966) as Bathsheba. Each film will be available separately for $14.94 SRP.
The Bible Stories: Jeremiah Synopsis
Jeremiah tells the story of the prophet who abandons his family and the woman he loves, in order to relay God’s message in Jerusalem. Although he is persecuted and branded as a traitor for warning others of the destruction of the Holy City, he continues fearlessly with his mission. When his prophecy is fulfilled, he experiences first-hand Jerusalem’s destruction by the Babylonians.
The Bible Stories: Solomon Synopsis
Solomon is crowned King of Israel and rules the land with love, peace and respect. While visiting the city, Solomon meets the beautiful Queen of Sheba and falls in love. When she returns to her homeland, Solomon falls into a deep depression, departing from his once idyllic world of peace and luxury while his kingdom threatens to collapse.
