Nashville, Tenn. Aug. 17, 2010… After overcoming life trials of abuse, homelessness, poverty and more, Heather Williams’ will bring her strong inspirational story and hearty talent for songwriting in an EP for digital retailers releasing today, Aug. 17 from INO Records.
Williams’ background provides a unique perspective for her songwriting on her freshman EP. She grew up in extreme poverty with her mom and stepfather, and suffered abuse. Her mother gave her away at age 11, and Williams went to live with her grandfather in Michigan. Living with little guidance and the pain of past abuse and rejection, she turned to drugs and alcohol as a way to numb the realities of life. As things began to spiral out of control, the young teenager began to have thoughts of suicide and was even homeless at one point. At age 18, however, the dangerous road Williams was on took a U-turn when she briefly reconnected with her birth father. Her father, a Christian, invited Williams to church. Here, Williams realized that she was at rock bottom, and decided to dedicate her life to Christ. It wasn’t long after this that she met and married her husband, and then had her first child, named Caedmen. Then, another wave of tragedy struck the budding singer/songwriter when Caedmen passed away shortly after he was born.
Today, Williams is grateful for how far grace has brought her.
“The Bible says He has a purpose for every life, for every person; and I knew that was the same for even a 6-month-old baby,” she continues. “So, I said, ‘OK, what’s the purpose here? God, just use me.’ He started to pour into me these songs of just crying out to Him. I’ve had this awakening to God and who He is in my life and who I am in Him.”

For Williams, she describes her songs as “conversations” that range in emotion, but all come from a place of honesty, brokenness and transparency before God. “This album is you getting to peek in on me sometimes having it out with God, sometimes crying to God, sometimes laughing,” she says. “But it’s always going to be a transparent look at what’s going on in my heart, because that’s who I want to be before Him. If I want Him to use me, then I have to be willing to share everything.”
The four song EP features the current radio single “Hallelujah.” Williams has also been on a radio promo tour hitting Dallas, New York and Orlando among others. Heather is presently receiving airplay on more than 30 stations to date.
