Nashville, Tenn. Jul. 12, 2011… Matthew West's hit song "More" was played as part of a wake up call for the Atlantis space shuttle crew earlier this morning on the 5th day of their mission. The song was played for Mission Specialist Rex Walheim from NASA’s Mission Control Center who said “(‘More’) is a great description of the beauty of this earth, and a wonderful reminder of God’s love for us." To view the wake up call, visit http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/videogallery/index.html?media_id=100925731. Atlantis marks the final mission of America’s 30-year shuttle program.
"I was honored to hear that 'More' was played on space shuttle Atlantis," comments West. "Of all the places my music has traveled in my career, this is both the farthest, AND the coolest!"
West's latest single "Strong Enough" is continuing to do well at radio placing in the top 10 on both the AC-Indicator and National Christian Audience charts as well No. 15 on AC-Monitored.
Up next for West will be a headlining jaunt on "The Story of Your Life" tour this fall along with the release of The Story of Your Life, Inspiring Stories of God at Work in People Just Like You book with Angela Thomas and Harvest House Publishers this September. He is also in the studio working on his first, full length Christmas project due out later this year with Sparrow.
