My Block/Columbia Records recording artists Mary Mary are coming down from a whirlwind week. The duo gave a riveting performance at the taping of BET's Black Girls Rock Award Show Saturday night, and then made their way to DC the following morning to perform in the historic Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Dedication Ceremony. The event was broadcast live by TV One and took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Black Girls Rock will air on BET, Sunday, November 6 at 8pm/7c.
Last week, Mary Mary were nominated for two Soul Train Awards for their chart topping single "Walking" in the categories of Best Dance Performance and Best Gospel Performance. The ladies will be joined by R&B superstars Rihanna, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Keri Hilson, and Kelly Rowland in the dance performance category and gospel greats Kirk Franklin, Trin-i-tee 5:7, CeCe Winans, & James Fortune in the gospel performance category. The award show will air on both Centric and BET on November 27th at 9p/8c.
Mary Mary has had an incredible year, kicked off by the March release of their current album, "Something Big." Since the release they have garnered both the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award, and a top BET Award, they completed a successful tour with co-headliners BeBe & CeCe Winans and have had several high-profile national television appearances. Mary Mary recently announced exciting new partnerships with The American Red Cross and Pillsbury. They are the voices behind Pillsbury's latest television jingle, and are currently running a contest called "Do Something Big." The contest challenges churches across America to identify and meet a need within their communities for the chance to win a full Mary Mary concert and a Pillsbury sponsored breakfast for the church's congregation.
