TORONTO, ONTARIO - APRIL 5, 2012 - Canada's pop/rock act PHAO released their latest EP, Something Cold, on April 3rd. It immediately soared to the top of the Country's iTunes rock chart. At the end of its first day out, Something Cold sat at #5 in rock and #44 overall.
Featured on NewReleaseTuesday.com, the four song EP showcases the band's energetic rock anthems and strong pop appeal. Recorded with producer and engineer Wayne Young in Nashville, TN, the record effectively captures the passion and energy seen in PHAO's live show. "We wanted to walk the fine line of writing intense rock pieces and relevant pop songs, without losing the idea of solid songwriting," says frontman Mike Gnandt. Lyrically, the album explores catharsis and the struggle to cleanse from the past and constantly set and reach higher goals. "This record got me through a lot," Mike reveals. "Whether a song's content is angry, joyful or super sad, it's relatable. A listener can take that and use it to describe their own story."
PHAO will spend the rest of this year playing shows and festivals across Canada and the United States, to promote Something Cold. In addition, their full length record, Playing with Fire, drops on June 5th - just in time for summer festivals. "Their show is tight and engaging," says Young. "We've spent the past few years developing PHAO's sound and image. It's exciting to see them take it on the road and garner such success on the rock charts."
