TORONTO, ONTARIO - June 4, 2012 - Pop/Rock act Phao just announced the June 19th release of Playing with Fire. The full length follows the successful Something Cold EP. In addition, the band announced plans for a CD release show in Canada, other spot dates and a summer festival in the United States.
When Something Cold dropped two months ago, it quickly climbed the charts and debuted at #5 on the iTunes rock charts (Canada), ultimately landing at #4. The four-track EP acted as a preview of the full length - each song appearing on both records. It received excellent reviews.
"PHAO's Something Cold is a refreshing sound to emerge from the jungle of independent artists. It's pretty catchy, yet it's thoughtful and well written." - JesusFreakHideout.com
"Phao definitely has a lot of potential…these four rock anthems are incredible." - Jay's Musik Blog
Recorded with producer and engineer Wayne Young in Nashville, TN, the record effectively captures the passion and energy seen in PHAO's live show. "We wanted to walk the fine line of writing intense rock pieces and relevant pop songs, without losing the idea of solid songwriting," says frontman Mike Gnandt.
They're getting ready for a release show in Lethbridge and will use the concert to raise awareness and donations for the nonprofit organization Soles4Souls. S4S collects and distributes shoes to those in need both domestically and around the world. Phao will also perform at Soulfest, a Christian music festival in New England.
