Fans have been buzzing about Switchfoot's long-planned album and movie Fading West and its plan for release this summer. However, with rumors that the album portion of the project has been pushed back to January of 2014, some friends of the Foot have been wondering when we can really expect everything to unfold. Today, Switchfoot made an official announcement about the "timeline" of the new project...

1. Fading West- the EP
First up, we are almost finished with our new record! That's right, our ninth studio album, "Fading West", is being mixed as we speak (or type). We have never worked so hard on a project, nor traveled so far for inspiration, than we did to create this record. These songs are full of heart, hope, sweat, and saltwater. And we are thrilled to announce that you will be hearing them sooner than you may think. On Sept 17, we are releasing an EP with 3 album tracks (and one exclusive b-side on the physical version), available at switchfoot.com and on our fall tour. The EP is also part of a "complete my album" for the full length, so when the album is released on January 14, you will automatically receive a complete download of the remaining tracks. P.S. The B-side happens to be the title track that started this whole thing: "Fading West"!

2. Fading West- the movie
As many of you know, we're just about to release our most ambitious project yet: Fading West, our very own independent feature film. We can't wait to show it to you! Part rock-umentary, part surf film, Fading West is an extremely personal, in-depth look at the highs and lows of this band of brothers that we call Switchfoot. We've captured the entire journey we've been on for the last 2 years- and we're so excited for you to see it! Fading West will be premiering across the country on our tour this fall and released online in early December.

3. Fading West- the fall tour
There's always been two sides to switchfoot: we've had tunes driven by electric guitars and an acoustic side as well. For years, people have been asking for a more intimate, acoustic, live-show. Because of the honest nature of this film, and some of the beautiful theaters we'll be playing, we figure this fall tour is the perfect time for just that. This fall, the film will be shown in it's entirety, followed by a unique concert experience that is much more personal and interactive than anything we've ever done before. Our set will consist of acoustic performances of perennial favorites, some of the new songs from Fading West (performed live for the first time ever!), and a chance for us to tell some stories and answer your questions as well. And don't worry, we're bringing our electric guitars too, just to keep you guessing!

4. Fading West- the album
On January 14 we will release our 9th album as a band. 9 albums: Wow. That's amazing to us! This record, in many ways, has taken us 17 years to make... it feels connected to the entire journey that we've been on since the beginning. We're so honored and thankful for your support over the years. We hope that these songs inspire you to stop and listen and think and move and dance and more.
