January 30, 2014 - BADCHRISTIAN, GREATSAVIOR-written by rockers Matt Carter and Toby Morrell of Emery, and Pastor Joey Svendsen-reveals intimate details of the author's lives and discusses problems within today's Christian society. They expose their own struggles with sexual sin, depression, betrayal, anger, and alcohol abuse. All the while, they lived a second life: attending church, leading worship, and appearing to be as "good" as possible. Over 1,500 pre-sale copies of the book have been sold. BADCHRISTIAN, GREATSAVIOR's publishing was crowd-funded by BADCHRISTIAN's fans and tripled its funding goal. Visit Amazon.com to download it for Kindle.
Excerpt from BADCHRISTIAN, GREATSAVIOR: "This is not a book of Theology. This is not Christian Inspiration. This is Matt, Toby, and Joey telling it like they see it; that you are worse than you think you are, and Jesus is better than you think He is."
The authors also challenge the modern church and identify failures that plague today's Christians. BADCHRISTIAN, GREATSAVIOR suggests that the church is playing it safe by allowing the real sin Christians struggle with to remain "private" and hidden. BADCHRISTIAN aims to move Christian conversations beyond the topics of parenting and coffee, and move on to the things that bring glory to God when we live more transparent, honest, and open lives.
Excerpt from BADCHRISTIAN, GREATSAVIOR: "If the crux of life is based upon Him and the cross, can we just sit in an air-conditioned room once a week and then live the rest of our lives separate from each other in our own tiny kingdom?"
BADCHRISTIAN was formed in 2013 by Matt Carter, Toby Morrell, and Joey Svendsen. Matt and Toby are worship leaders and founders of Emery, a successful touring rock band that has sold over 500,000 records and toured in 49 states. Joey is a campus Pastor and Counselor at Seacoast Church. BADCHRISTIAN.com sees over 100,000 unique monthly visitors with more than 200,000 pageviews, features a blog with over 10,000 subscribers, a podcast that debuted at 15 on the iTunes Top Charts, and a record label.
