High Flight Society frontman and current Disciple bassist Jason Wilkes is working on a new side project under the band name Wilkes and the trio has just released a new Kickstarter campaign to fund an upcoming EP.

Below is the band's announcement:

High Flight Society had a great 12 year run but after a few big hardships and the sudden death of our drummer Scotty in May of 2012, we decided to come off the road. I terribly miss making music and touring as High Flight and wish that it never had to come to an end, but everything in life has it's season. After HFS I moved back into worship leading, starting writing music of my own and even released a cover of "O Come Emmanuel" to christian radio as a Christmas single. I started recording with a friend in attempt to follow that single with an EP. However in December of 2013, just a few weeks after starting my EP, I got a call from Kevin Young asking if I would like to join Disciple. Of course I said yes to the incredible opportunity. My solo project however, fell by the wayside for about a year and half. Until now.

People frequently ask when I'll make time to record my own music whether it be High Flight fans, Disciple fans, or people at churches where I've lead some of my original worship songs. My reply has always been something along the lines of "I just don't have the money to make it happen." So this is me asking for your help. Together I think we can make it happen!

This time around will not just be me and my friends doing the best we can. This time we're doing it right with producer Travis Wyrick (Disciple, POD, Spoken, Pillar, Children 18:3). The money from this KickStarter will go 100% toward tracking, mixing, and mastering this record! Any amount I go over the goal will go toward promotion and distribution.

The other 2/3 of WILKES is Shane Cole and Ike Thurston. Both are INCREDIBLE musicians that will be joining me in the studio (and hopefully on stage afterward) for this project. Shane's unique guitar playing and Ike's drumming flavor will absolutely make this record something special!
