NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Shadow to Sunlight, the highly anticipated full-length debut from singer/songwriter Micah Peacock, bows at iTunes today. Produced by multi-GRAMMY® winner Michael Omartian (Donna Summer, Rod Stewart), the project features 12 songs written or co-written by Peacock.
Exploring both the complexities and joys of life and faith, Shadow to Sunlight is highlighted by the title-cut, an earnest appeal for the fullness of Life; the bright, alt-country "Mystery," celebrating freedom in spite of differences; and the relationship-driven "On Your Side Tonight," among other selections.
"When light hits an object, a shadow is cast. You can't have one without the other," Peacock says of the album's title and overarching theme. "I want to have eyes to see all the glimpses of God and His Kingdom that are infused throughout our day-to-day lives. I think the Lord is ready to give us a new lens to look through. We have a choice to participate and dive in. That may not be comfortable, but I've found that it's by far a more rich and dynamic way of living."
"Micah's lyrics are steeped in prose and poetry," says Omartian. "They transcend the more mainstream worship themes of today's Christian market, which I find completely refreshing. The themes are approached so creatively."
Proceeds from Shadow to Sunlight benefit Project Transformation, a Dallas-based program created to assist low-income children in reaching their potential; to help engage college students in the call to ministry; and to aid in the renewal of urban churches.
"The idea of living into our potential as children, as students, and as churches resonated with what this record is all about," Peacock continues. "I come from a family of educators, I 'cut my teeth' with regard to ministry in college, and am deeply committed to renewing how churches engage the Lord and what He's doing, so those three areas are close to my heart."
An accomplished singer/songwriter and worship leader, Peacock previously toured with Juno Award-winning artist Matt Brouwer, and has released three acclaimed EPs: 2010's What Surrounds Us; 2011's Anywhere But Home; and last year's collection of love songs, Unnamed Shades. He currently serves as worship leader for The Well at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, a 2000-member congregation in suburban Dallas.
