1 July 2016 - Nashville, Tenn - It was announced earlier this week that Word Entertainment was honored two times at the annual Christian Retailing's Best Awards. Big Daddy Weave's acclaimed album Beautiful Offerings (Fervent Records) won in the music category and When Calls the Heart: Complete Season 2 (Word Films) won for the DVD: Movie division. The awards, honoring the best new products of the year, were given on Monday, June 27 in Cincinnati during the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS).
"At Word Entertainment, we are passionate and intentional about delivering the best in Christian entertainment to people everywhere," shares Rod Riley, President & CEO, Word Entertainment. "Big Daddy Weave's Beautiful Offerings and When Calls the Heart Complete Season 2 are two projects that we have seen impact thousands and thousands of lives with the good news of the Gospel. To be recognized with awards for each of these projects from Christian Retailing's Best Awards is an honor that means a lot to our team."
According to the official awards press release, any person actively engaged in the Christian products industry, from retailers, record labels, publishers, church store managers and more, were eligible to vote. Voters were asked to judge the nominations on their impact, including their ability to speak to people's hearts and evoke emotion; open people's minds to new ways of thinking; and encourage and affirm Christlike living. The awards began in 2001 and were formerly known as the Retailers Choice Awards. They have been increasingly acknowledged as an important way of recognizing some of the most significant and new life-changing products in the Christian retail industry.
ABOUT WHEN CALLS THE HEART, SEASON 2: From celebrated author Janette Oke (The Love Comes Softly series) comes a rigorous and romantic adventure as epic as the wide frontier. Erin Krakow (Army Wives), Daniel Lissing (Eye Candy), Jack Wagner (Melrose Place) and Lori Loughlin (Full House, 90210) star in When Calls The Heart, "a beautiful story with roots in relationships, self-empowerment, and the enduring power of love", (Common Sense Media).
Elizabeth Thatcher (Krakow) is a strong-willed teacher who has foregone the life of the big city and found a job, a home (and a bit of unexpected romance with a handsome Mountie named Jack) in the small frontier town of Hope Valley. But life on the frontier can hand you many tough turns, and so it is for Jack and Elizabeth as they face their very different upbringings, the pressures put upon them by family, rival suitors and even various criminal counterfeiters and kidnappers in their quest to find their place in this remote and rugged land.
