Humble Beast would like to welcome its newest signee, Citizens, to the roster. The label made the announcement to fans and family at Canvas Conference earlier this month in their hometown of Portland. Besides the band performing to close out the event, singer Zach Bolen spoke during a session at Canvas about his songwriting process and how he seeks to create music that touches people where they’re at. “Art connects beyond logic,” Bolen says about the group’s craft. “It drifts into emotional categories that dialogue can’t.” Citizens is a rock group based out of Seattle and is Humble Beast’s first non-hip-hop act. Bolen, Spencer Abbott, Nathan Furtado, Adam Skatula and Brian Eichelberger captivate audiences with their blend of energetic music and honest storytelling about what they’re experiencing, learning and believing. For Citizens, joining Humble Beast represents a new chapter. From humble beginnings and a stint as Citizens and Saints, the group finds that coming alongside Beautiful Eulogy, Propaganda, Sho Baraka and Jackie Hill Perry has helped clarify their vision and mission. They are looking forward to collaborating with their hip-hop brothers and sisters and continuing to touch people with authentic art. Citizens released the In Part EP in August and will be touring to promote the project this fall. They dropped the A Mirror Dimly album last year. You can support Humble Beast by visiting their online store and making a purchase. Check out Citizen's latest project, In Part.
