Nashville, Tenn. (Feb. 5, 2019) – Readers will meet brave women like Heather, Kirstin, Franny, Matilda and more in Treatment or Transformation: 13 Real Stories Why You Can’t Argue With A Changed Life (March 1) the latest from Mercy Multiplied Founder and President Nancy Alcorn. The book of renewal spans stories of women choosing to reach out for help in the face of anxiety, eating disorders, abuse, depression, suicidal ideation, unplanned pregnancy, drug use, unhealthy relationships and more. Alcorn journeyed with these women through her work with Mercy Multiplied, an organization she founded in 1983. She writes from the belief that transformation and freedom is available for all.
Treatment or Transformation: 13 Real Stories Why You Can’t Argue With A Changed Life comes in the wake of the popular Netflix Series, 13 Reasons Why which Alcorn admits was painful to view, but beneficial because of her line of work. “It broke my heart to watch the series 13 Reasons Why, because I quickly realized how many young women who walk through the doors of our residential program have similar struggles as the girl featured in the series,” says Alcorn. “We’ve had numerous young women walk through our doors who have attempted suicide and almost succeeded, but they were able to find an alternative and a place to receive healing through Jesus Christ. Because they chose to seek help, these women are now reaching their potential and are college graduates, counselors, doctors, business owners, missionaries, mothers, etc. and are living full and healthy lives. At Mercy, we understand it’s the things people are dealing with and the pressures of life that cause them to choose suicide. I want everyone to know there is a different way and through these inspiring stories, I want to especially encourage those who are contemplating suicide to choose a different outcome and ask for help.”
Stemming from her experience in the Department of Corrections and Department of Human Services, Mercy has grown in 35 years to encompass a completely free residential counseling program helping young women ages 13-32 alongside an outreach department that provides transformative tools, training and resources nationwide through churches and Freedom Advocates. Mercy has served thousands of women through Mercy homes in Monroe, La., Nashville, Tenn., Sacramento, Calif. and St. Louis, Mo. International affiliates exist in the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand.
“I am on a mission for faith to be built up in the heart of anyone who reads this book,” explains Alcorn. “There is no such thing as a life that cannot be transformed when someone allows God to work in their heart and life. My hope and prayer is that these 13 stories will encourage the reader to believe for greater levels of freedom in their own life.”
