The city is known for its heyday during the Gold Rush at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The capital city of Alaska, Juneau, is the next port of call, followed by the Alaskan frontier city of Ketchikan -a best bets for taking in Native culture. Victoria , the capital of British Columbia is the last excursion. A meeting between the rugged outdoors and historic colonialism.
