San Antonio, TX…. March 3, 2020- In the latest of announcements that continue to flow out of the Christian music industry, Becoming Sons has released a new single titled “Open Arms” on YouTube as a lyric video. The lyrics of the song tell the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. It's been nearly a year and a half since anything new has come out of the group. But Frontman Roger G stated “We are writing a lot of new material, and we have fundamentally changed our sound”. With that being said, one observation from the new single release, is a noticeably “heavier” sound with breakdowns, and heavy guitar riffs. The song was written as a collaboration of all the members of the band. 3 of the members, including their frontman, are new to the band. This is most likely why the band has shifted so dramatically in sound. The song was birthed from the verse found in 1 Corinthians 15:55 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. The band has labelled itself a “Metal-Praisecore” band. This is partially due to the fact that most of their lyrics are derived directly from the Bible. They are also very forward on their faith from the stage and off. In January, Becoming Sons announced that they had signed with Michigan based Sancrosanct records. They also announced they were currently in the studio working to write a new EP set to be released in late spring, and gave a hint that they may be planning a summer tour to span 7 states.
