Country songwriter, artist and worship leader Nicole Unser invites listeners on a musical road trip of hope and healing with new singles “Wyoming” and “Show Up.” Both tracks are from her sophomore album, Wyoming, available to fans in CD format at NicoleUnser.com and set for general release in September. The new tracks follow Unser’s previous singles “Fear You Don’t Own Me”, “Good Enough” and “You Give,” all from the Wyoming project. Each was written by Unser who crafts story-songs about the “goodness of God amidst the heartbreaks of life” in a Country/Americana tradition delivered in a raspy-sweet vocal style reminiscent of Miranda Lambert and Sarah Buxton. “‘Wyoming’ is about going back to the last place where you remembered who you were… the place that existed before shame entered your story and pinned you under lies about who you are,” says Unser. “We all have a ‘Wyoming story,’ a unique healing journey that God has had planned for us since before we were even wounded. ‘Show Up’ is about that moment when we reach the end of ourselves, when we realize we’re desperate for God’s mercy, healing and presence… the moment of surrender that leads to our restoration in Him.” A heart of division and a hand-me-down religion just ain’t enough / Lord, I need you, I need you to show up / ‘Cause I don’t want to leave here the same way I came / Empty-handed, abandoned, ashamed / I need to be certain that all this searching is worth it because it leads to You… Building on the message of “Show Up,” Unser will host a series of guided practices for worship, stillness and centering prayer to help combat anxiety and fear as listeners prepare to hear God’s voice. These episodes will be available throughout the month of April via her YouTube and social media channels with an opt-in from her website for direct email delivery. She will release additional singles from the Wyoming album in the coming months and is preparing a “Companion Guide” workbook/journal for the project that will be available to fans this summer. Her next single, slated for May 1, is “Dear Daughter,” a mother’s loving promise of home to her adopted teen. “When people hear this record, I want them to feel seen and heard, to have hope” says Unser of the 12-track Wyoming, which was produced by Evan Sieling. “I want them to find themselves and their stories in these songs and feel a little less alone.” Unser’s own story of healing inspires many of her songs and attests to God’s love and redemption. The wife, mom and “juvy” ministry volunteer has come a long way from a childhood overshadowed by a parent’s mental illness and a young adulthood awash in fear. She shares her journey and songs at live events, including “Story Nights” of interactive worship, prayer, meditation and storytelling, and through her Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter accounts. Her music is available through Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora and Amazon. For additional information and booking inquiries, visit NicoleUnser.com.
