Chicago-based rock outfit Ignescent is reminding listeners of their power and resilience with their anthem “Remnant,” available now on all major streaming platforms at https://bit.ly/GetRemnant. The band has also debuted a music video with the track, which you can watch on YouTube.
"The definition of remnant is a small remaining quantity of something, especially after a tragedy,” Ignescent vocalist Jennifer Benson explains. “'Remnant' is about us being blessed beyond measure despite our failures and weaknesses, despite going through tragedy and hardships. It's about perseverance and saying to the world, even when we are brokenhearted and suffering, that we won't give up. We will keep going."
This empowering call to perseverance is timely on a global scale, but also on a personal level. Jennifer adds, "As a band, we want to be honest that we struggle with anxiety and depression at times. It's been a hard couple years for everyone. Our bass player, Ian, worked with COVID patients at the hospital. Seeing that was hard. Seeing what my family went through was hard. But we want people to know that they are not alone and that they are loved.”
"We will not be silent and we will not back down. We are the remnant."
Ignescent delivers the power-packed lyrics with their signature rock-and-roll flare, anchored by Jennifer Benson’s powerful voice. “Remnant” was produced by Cameron Pierce Mizell, who has worked with rock heavy-hitters like Sleeping With Sirens and Memphis May Fire.
The band will be bringing the song to the live setting in the coming months, with a slot alongside The Protest and American Arson at Route 20 in Sturtevant, WI. Legendary guitarist Sameer Bhattacharya (Flyleaf, P.O.D.) will be filling in on guitar.
Whether they’re delivering “Remnant” digitally or from the stage, Ignescent’s core intention remains the same. “We want to inspire others to stand up for your beliefs and know that God loves you, He sees our pain and He will never leave our side,” Jennifer sums it up. “The world is in chaos, and people are hurting. Now more than ever, people need to hear about the love of God.”
