Youssou N’dour and Fela Kuti are two of the musical influences on Kenneth’s work; both Youssou’s incredible stage presence and unique exhilarating vocal ability coupled with the greatness of the Senegalese band that brings his music to life have helped inspire the band to produce their mix of ethnically tinted yet universally relevant music. From the country of Ghana in West Africa comes Kenneth Appiah, who is no stranger to the world of Reggae and World music. After living for a few years in the United States, this eccentric artist reached out to a group of professional musicians to form a band that came to be known as The Yzmen.

Kenneth Appiah and The Yzmen are the first of the kind in the Gospel arena and have been compared to the likes of Fela Kuti, Youssou N’dour, Bob Marley, and Lucky Dube, with their dense percussion, melodic guitars, vibrant horns, and captivating Afrocentric vocals. It is these two artists that form heavily influence the music that is produced as well.

Their primary goal is to win souls for God’s Kingdom, using music as bait to draw as many as possible to salvation in Jesus Christ alone.
