Nashville, Tenn., Friday Dec. 2, 2022 — Syntax Creative is pleased to partner with Peerless Music Group/Island Girl Music for the release of Sheryl Lee Ralph’s new album Sleigh, which was recently teased on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and had its artwork revealed on the “TODAY Show”. Ralph’s performance on ABC’s Abbott Elementary earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series this September, making her the first black woman in 35 years to hoist the trophy. Sleigh, an edgy, modern take on Christmas music, is executive produced by eight-time GRAMMY-nominated and multi-platinum-selling singer and producer B.Slade. Click here to listen to the new project.
“This is not your mother’s holiday album,” Ralph says, “but she will enjoy it though.”
“People will be pleasantly surprised when they hear Sheryl's delivery,” B.Slade says. “It was her idea, from the very beginning, to have an intentional edge so that it would not sound like a traditional holiday album.”
Syntax’s partnership with Golden Child is part of a broader deal that includes distribution for all of its imprints such as Suxxess, as well as B.Slade’s major label back catalog and biggest hits.
“What started as a friendship between two dudes living in San Diego—the land of rolled tacos—has led to so much more,” Syntax Creative CEO Timothy Trudeau says. “B was the first to give me the opportunity for a credit on a major label release. I’m forever grateful for his generosity and loyalty throughout the years and, of course, super excited about the future of this new season of doing business together.”
“I’m happy to have Syntax Creative as a distribution and strategic marketing partner. We have enjoyed many years of success together,” B.Slade says, “and it keeps getting better!”
“The team at Syntax Creative are great partners and have been behind us every step of the way,” Norman Lee, SVP of Golden Child, said. “Our boutique labels really appreciate the hands on, high touch, and high quality level of attention and service we receive.”
